Weekly Love

W
ooohoo! It’s the weekend. Or in my case a five day weekend!! Wednesday was ANZAC day so I took Thursday and Friday off and got the early bus to the Hawkes Bay to visit my mum. It’s so good to get away from the city and take a break from work for a bit since I hadn’t seen my ma since Christmas / New Year break and decided it was time to come back up this way. It’s nice to have a sleep in and potter around a bit. I also managed to finally stitch my quilt together (it’s waiting it’s final inspection….), bake and start reading the Hunger Games. Did I mention I also got two extra days of windless sunshine?! Total bliss I tell ya. Next week will be a little bit crazier. A mix of job hunting, going to see my favourite rap group (Atmopshere!) and attending my friend Carrie’s leaving drinks as well as a rebrand party for work. No rest for the wicked I tell ya!
Such a beautiful view!
Spending some time outside with my boo Zeus. He is just so beautiful. Check out his silver tipped feet!
He got a bit chilly so mum & I tucked him into his bed. My mum made him the wee bed he is sleeping on and one of her work mates gave her the basket. He looooves it!
Billy was super cute too. Still a little timid but hey this time I got cuddles and he slept on my bed!

I hope you have had a fabulous weekend!

Billy the Brave

I had the pleasure of having long distance cuddles with a certain Mr Billy. He’s very camera shy and I’m sure my bulky camera intimidates the heck out of his wild soul.

Zeus the Magnificent

Zeus is one of my absolute favourite photo subjects. Who’s a pretty boy? You are Zeusie!

The Gingers Guide to Life

1. There is nothing more terrifying and exciting than starting a new chapter in life. If you have the guts to do something, take a leap and if it doesn’t work out take a step back and try something new.
2. Learn to cook a couple of bad ass meals. There is nothing worse than going out and forking out $30 odd bucks on a average meal and sub par service!
3. Compliment people. I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Do your best not to be creepy about it.
4. I know how easy it is to feel left out. Groups of people can be total dicks sometimes right? Make sure you’re making friends with the right people. It makes a big fat difference!
5. For gods sake why haven’t you watched Community yet? It’s so awesome!
6. I know you have your problems and if it makes you feel better we all do but girl, you gotta do something about those. Counselling changed my life!
7. You can’t train people like dogs. Love ‘em or leave ‘em!
8. Dedicate more of your time to sleeping and less to mindless internet trawling.
9. Channel people when you’re in a situation that scares you. I always channel my friend Carrie in social situations because she always breezes through!
10. Know your worth. Don’t be any ones booty call/bitch/door mat. You are better than that. Don’t ever let people have power or control over you. Your time is always limited. You can thank me later.
11. I know I’ve done it and sometimes do it but please stop winging about your body. It makes me want to spend less time with you.

Weekly Love

Monday to Wednesday were total write offs but Thursday rode around on his stallion and saved the day. One of my best friends has been in New Zealand for the past couple of months and flicked me a ‘Hey what are you doing? Want to get a late dinner?’ text. I was in my normal habitat (bed) watching t.v (Bones) in my pajamas and I thought ‘Why the fuck not?’ so we met up an hour and a couple of outfits later and got a dinner and shared a bottle of pinot gris. Her friend Cody joined us followed by his friend Will and after a couple of drinks at Ancestral we went to Mighty Mighty and drunk far too much beer then I cabbed home and grabbed a few hours sleep. On Friday night I managed to sleep from 7pm to 7am then caught up with my dad. I would love to share photos from both of these occasions but hey, turns out my lap top doesn’t want to co-operate with my iPod so you will just have to read what I wrote and accept that it happened without photographic evidence.

Later on Saturday dad and I drove out to Porirua to watch my sisters boyfriend play rugby. I forgot how awesome taking photos with my sister is. I know this is a tad over exposed but enjoy it for what it is okay?

We look nothing alike but we like all the same thangs which makes life fun except I’m a messy Gemini and she’s a Virgo right down to the t.

I think that this is a good time to mention that at the game a guy had a sweatshirt on that said ‘Hi haters’ I need one of these. Right after the game him and his mates fired up a joint and at the same time my dad, sister and I all look at each other, take in a deep are-they- smoking-weed breath, looked at each other and cracked up laughing. Only in Porirua!

On Sunday I went to the markets and spent the rest of the morning in the kitchen making soup and the most amazing pasta sauce via Smitten Kitchen. I had a quiet house to myself where I wasn’t hungover in what felt like the first time in forever, watched Bones then went for a nice leisurely stroll to Haitaitai and back. When I got back I looked out my window to this
Then listened to hoardes of screaming girls in booty shorts and home made One Direction t-shirts try to entice One Direction out of the St James. This one girl was losing her shit screaming to someone on her cell phone ‘OMIGOD! OMIGOD! OMIGOD! HARRY WAVED AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ as she moved around the car park. It reminded me of my youth because I was exactly the same at that age.

Little things: The fact that my Tuesday is my Friday and I get five days with mum and the cats away from the city!; thick head bands that keep your ears warm; Drake – Thank me now on repeat; sunny, crisp Autumn days; feeling the happiest I have felt in a long, long time; Community; New Girl; How I Met Your Mother; Girls; having a wee dance on the way to the bathroom at an almost empty bar without anyone noticing; day long job interviews with awesome people; perusing cook books; curly hair; adults who run away from home; cheap c.ds; morning coffee, having several people tell you how awesome you are and how it is bought up in work meetings; pulled pork and coleslaw sandwiches

Job interviews

So many people hate job interviews because you get so nervous and never know what kind of curve ball question you’re going to be thrown. When I go into an interview I like to pretend that I’m on a talk show and the interviewers are the hosts. It makes me feel heaps more confident!
